Beyond the eastern coast, the vast steppe of Lithia comprises grassland and shrubland that stretches over a large swath of the content. To the locals, it is simply known as 'the Plains'. The region is populated by various, mostly nomadic, tribal communities who are not allied under any particular banner. Each tribe has its own customs and values, and when tribes meet the interactions may be friendly and cooperative, or hostile and violent. Horses and other herd animals often play a large role in movement, entertainment, and the economy of the Plains, and cavalry is common when it comes to defending one's people from enemies. A common dialect, known as "Plainspeak" (based on Russian) is used to communicate between groups in the region, although each tribe often has its own mother tongue as well. One tradition all tribes share is the "Raiding Season" that takes place in the late summer, when competition between groups vying for resources reaches an all time high to prepare for the colder, less fruitful winter months. Sometimes the skirmishes during Raiding Season reach smaller Lithian towns on the edges of the Plains, resulting in the Plains having a reputation for being brutal, uncivilized, and dangerous. However, for those who call the Plains home, this is a simplified and unfair stereotype, considering how much rich history and culture can be found with those who live amongst this wild and beautiful landscape.
