Solarean Adventures LARP Lore

Solarea

It is a younger country, founded only after the fall of the Zanshian Empire. It is home to the small adventuring town of Evermire, where most of this game's adventures take place.

Landmarks

The Front

The line between Avarin and Solarea. It is considered independent of the two counties. There have been skirmishes in the past between the neighboring lands that occur within The Front, but never a formal declaration of war.

Helibrook

Helibrook is the capital of Solarea, as well as its largest city. It is home to the royal court of King Duncan III and Queen Alice the Generous, as well as a variety of important institutions and many noble families. The city itself is separated into various neighborhoods that organize themselves around districts, organizations, or class structures, and are separated by the city's canals, which are connected to the nearby Soradelle River and offer Helibrook's denizens an alternate transportation method throughout the city. Notable neighborhoods within Helibrook include the Royal District, a well protected neighborhood in which all Government buildings sit; the University District, where the prestigious Aphinast University stands, along with ample student housing; the Golden district, a sprawling neighborhood of small estates where nobility and important guests of the court reside while in the city; and various art, restaurant, and shopping districts. As with any large city, crime can be a concern, but the Royal Town Guard also has its headquarters here and concerns itself with addressing unsavory activities.

Oscura

A Rupture residing on the edge of Solarea, Oscura has a natural push and pull with its counterpart Ligera. The two work together to control the flow of water from season to season. In the fall and winter, the pull of Oscura causes the Broken Sea to flow north and release its current into the ocean west of Rúndísar and north of Solarea towards the island Alaethrie. Some theorize that the two Ruptures functionally exist as siblings in a constant state of conflict, while others believe they are two separated halves trying to make their way back to each other.

Other Locations

Dunstansport

A great place to shop the freshest selection of imported goods, find reliable charter across the ocean, or just tie off at a dockside inn after weeks of sailing, Dunstansport is a lively coastal community in southwestern Solarea. Built at the mouth of The Soradelle river on the ruins of a restrictive gate to the Zanshian Empire, the town was founded in 65 AD by King Dunstan of Solarea to establish a maritime trade center for the then-infant country. Now boasting a diverse population of locals and visitors of every nation, lineage, and species, it is a bustling hub for travellers leaving and entering Solarea by sea. In addition to being a crucial point of the country's trade route, Dunstansport also serves as a base for the Solarean Guards' naval fleet, which provides the port protection from pirates, military action from neighboring countries, and aquatic magical anomalies.

Evermire

Nestled within the forest of central Solarea sits a tiny adventuring town known as Evermire. Named after the swampy locale and its propensity to take on a higher than average amount of rain compared to its neighbors, this town used to be an old mining village before flooding made the continued use of the mines unsafe. After being left abandoned for years, the tucked away nature of the location caught the attention of a ragtag group of wayward adventurers, who soon founded a settlement of their own. Since its first record on the 1019 Solarean census, the town has continued to grow, applying for official recognition from the Solarean Government, and even having its own Town Council and sheriff. The people of Evermire are a strange collection of scrappy adventurers from various backgrounds, homelands, belief systems and skillsets, all called to the region by some mysterious force. Rumors about this place swirl throughout Solarea, telling of mysterious happenings, a suspicious shrine, an annual festival of death, and a shifting forest full of wildlife, monstrous creatures, and tricky fae. (This is the location where most of our events for Solarean Adventures take place.)

Marlynoak

Marlynoak rests in the Marlwood, a forest built from nature magic by Sylffaron, an exiled fae who made the area his home in times long before recorded history. To aid him in tending the forest, Sylffaron compressed sunbeams and gusts of wind into nature spirits. Over millennia of exposure to the mortal plane, the offspring of these spirits shifted into more solid-bodied faerfolk, such as nymphs and sprites. Through further generations, their fae magic gradually faded even more, until the descendants of these creatures were fixed totally in the physical realm as wood elves, and it was these elves that founded the village of Marlynoak.

While not a deliberately hidden village, Marlynoak is not easy for travelers to happen upon by chance in the dense woods, but the Marlwood, home of the Derwlddlyn [dur-oolth-lin] or oak elves, is bordered by a wide-spanning ring of large oak trees growing in tight proximity of each other. A few miles into this ring sits a second ring, these oaks growing close enough to form a wall only parted by a faint path through the middle. Within this second ring sits the village of Marlynoak, with a third, smaller ring of oaks in the center of the hamlet around the village hall.

Marvelin

Marvelin is a mid-sized town located along the King's Highway between Evermire and Helibrook. Marvelin is home to several comfortable inns, a local vineyard, a modest shopping district, and seasonal festivals. Due to its location, it often operates as a stop-over town for many travelers.

Silver Fist Monastery

Founded some 700 years ago, Silver Fist was intended as nothing more than a retirement home and rest house for those aiding others. It has since grown well beyond its intended purpose. Now more of a large keep with several towns under its protection, Silver Fist is under the command of one of its original founders, a Paladin of Kaldonya, an elf by the name of Adrian Sanchez. The keep serves as a training location for Templar, fighters, and healers and serves as a way station for those seeking aid or refuge. The familiar blue and gold of those in service to the keep is often a welcome sight in times of trouble. Every New Year, the keep holds something known as The Festival of Lights. The people of the keep and surrounding towns and areas gather together for a day of celebration and feasting; and in the evening light lanterns to be released into the night sky.
